Coronavirus UpdateIssued by the Trustees of the Romney Marsh Historic Churches Trust
Further to the urgent bulletin published last month, we have now taken the decision to postpone the Annual General Meeting planned for May 16th at Newchurch. It is hoped that our grants for 2019 can be determined soon, but members and churches will realise that the Trust Council is unable, under current circumstances, to meet as a formal body in the usual format. It is hoped that a brief formal Annual General Meeting can be arranged by Autumn to take only a few minutes accepting our report and accounts, and carrying out the elections necessary by law.
We are also very sad to tell members that our Treasurer, Ian Meier, died very suddenly a few weeks ago. Ian was a very meticulous keeper of the necessary records, and a dedicated enthusiast of the churches. We have a number of Council members who undertake liaison with specific churches, and Ian was the “Snave man” over and above his Treasurer duties. We have lost a good and firm friend. Preparation of the draft Annual Accounts for 2019 have been impaired very little, due to Ian’s timely record-keeping and draft preparation. The Annual Report should be with members very soon
